Tiffany Peacock is a joint MA/PhD student at Florida International University in the departments of Global Sociocultural Studies and African & African Diaspora Studies. Originally from Lexington, South Carolina, she received her B.A. in Anthropology and History from the University of South Carolina in 2017. She also received her M.A. in Anthropology, graduating Summa Cum Laude, from the University of South Carolina in May 2019. Tiffany intends to specialize in Sociocultural Anthropology to answer questions surrounding topics of Black Culture & Identity, African American/Black Identity, Social Construction of Race, Racialization & Definitions of Blackness within the United States and the Caribbean, Human Variation, Black Women’s Hair/Beauty Culture and Politics, Post-Colonialism, Aesthetics & Representation, Body Politics, and Social Movements in the African Diaspora. As a passionate scholar, she aims to empower and engage more audiences to value anthropological research as a powerful asset in deconstructing and examining the complexities of this world.
