Sarah Labbé, Master of Arts student, received the Florida International University College of Arts and Sciences Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement in African and African Diaspora Studies. Sarah will be defending her thesis, titled “Negotiating Language in the Postcolonial Classroom: A Case Study in Coastal Madagascar,” this summer. She currently works at the Florida Immigrant Advocacy Center with the Children's Legal Project.
The award was presented at the College of Arts and Sciences 2011 Awards Ceremony held on May 1st at FIU’s Modesto Maidique Campus. The awards recognized graduate and undergraduate students for academic excellence or outstanding service, and were given to students who graduated/ will graduate in the fall, spring or summer terms.
