A first-year graduate student, Scott was born in Buffalo, New York and moved to New Orleans, Louisiana in 2001 where he attended Dillard University. Dillard University is a private, Historically Black College. He earned his undergraduate degree in African Politics and History in 2006. During his undergraduate experience he had the opportunity to study abroad for a year in Windhoek, Namibia which solidified his interest in pursuing a career in African Development. Scott’s predominant research interests are in regional integration in Southern Africa and social development policy. His thesis will focus on the relationship between social integration and identity in the sub-region. He also plans to implement an interactive children's theatre project using African Creation Stories to instill positive images of the continent into children at an early age, expand the concept of African identity among young people, and allow children to have a voice in recreating a rich oral history. Upon completion of the M.A. at FIU he intends to pursue a Ph.D. and then seek employment on the African continent.
