African New World Studies is pleased to announce its Africana Fellows program. The program is especially for members of the South Florida community with evidence of exceptional, original, and promising accomplishments in their areas of specialization that are of relevance to the mission of the African New World Studies. Applications and nominations are accepted and reviewed all year round.

Fellows will be provided with office space, computer, internet, and library access, and will be resident at the Biscayne Bay Campus of Florida International University. Africana Fellows do not receive renumeration from FIU or African-New World Studies but they are encouraged and will be supported to apply for grants through FIU’s Office of Sponsored Research. Individuals with independent source of funding are also encouraged to apply.

Fellows are expected to take part in the ANWS seminars and activities, and make presentation on their ongoing research or creative work at least once during the semester or academic year of their appointment. Africana Fellows may pursue their research and creative work while interacting with other Fellows, faculty, and graduate students.
Appointment varies between three and twelve months, and is renewable.
